Department of Animal Health

By 2036, the Department of Animal Health has a vision to become the Center of Excellence for Animal Health in Timor-Leste.

The department has the following missions:

1. Prepare students for professional life of high standards in science and technology in animal health.

2. Advance applied science through education, research, and community service.

3. Develop science and technology in animal health to support national development.

4. Meet current challenges in animal health through integrated teaching, research and development.

5. Monitor the environment and promote sustainable and ecological animal health practices.

6. Support food security by strengthening science and technology in animal health.

7. Promote self-sufficiency in the agro-national industry and agro-trade.

8. Form people with respect for God, nation, family, community, and environment.

The Bachelor of Animal Health course aims to train competent veterinary or Para veterinary technicians to work in Timor-Leste. The program adopts a practice-oriented approach, where students learn to perform clinical and field procedures while integrating an understanding of scientific principles. Upon completion, graduates are expected to perform effectively in three core domains:

1. Graduates will contribute to improving modern and profitable animal production through knowledge in animal production, animal welfare, nutrition, management, and rural extension.
2. Graduates are able to identify, prevent, and treat major animal diseases.
3. Graduates contribute to improving public health and community well-being by applying knowledge in public health.
